Challenge: Baby, It's Cold Outside
Objective:
No matter how well you bundle, there's always one body part that could be warmer, drier, or more comfy. Can you design a new piece of clothing or outdoor gear to battle the cold, ice, and/or snow?
Useful Hints:
Learn by doing. Go outside for at least 30 minutes. Is any part of you cold? How well do your shoes handle snow or ice? How might you solve these problems?
Did You Know:
Chester Greenwood, frustrated about how cold his ears got while playing ice hockey, invented earmuffs when he was only fifteen! Every Dec. 21, Maine celebrates “Chester Greenwood Day,” for his contribution to cold weather protection.
